Stay On Course
We all have a final destination that has been predestined for our lives. At times it may seem that we have lost our way when we face various trials in life. Often times we tend to see the small storms of life as a world-ending disaster. In the heat of the moment, we panic and make split-second decisions based on our circumstances and not the long-term effects.
In order to gain the experience we need to navigate through life, we must learn how to fully trust God. Our feelings and emotions cannot be trusted because they are unstable and always shifting like the waves in the sea. At some point in your life, you have had a day or even a week of roller coaster emotions or feelings. When we operate out of our feelings and emotions we tend to react and behave abnormally.
We have to get in our minds and hearts that no matter what we face there is good news always onboard our ship. In Deuteronomy 31:6 (NIV), a promise has been made and we must learn to stand on that promise. The verse reads "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” There is nothing too hard or impossible for God, his promise is bold and his word is final. The instructions are simple "Be strong and courageous", no matter how big the waves of life get we must stand on the instructions to not be afraid or terrified.
Fear is not of God, for he has given us a spirit of power and love. The enemy knows our weaknesses and will attack those areas of our lives to steal our confidence. The purpose of a storm is to destroy anything in its path, but when we make our shelter in the Highest (God) we are safe from the effects of the storm. Just like a ship we have been designed and equipped to withstand the toughest storm.
Do not abandon your ship or the course that has been set over your life. Brace yourself and go head first into the storms of life knowing that God has a plan for your life. Storms will come and go just like seasons, just because it rains doesn't mean you abandon your job or your schedule. You just make adjustments according to the weather and move accordingly. Yes, the storm is present, however, that doesn't change the fact that God has already made provisions for you to travel safely through the storm.
Get your confidence back, get your faith up, and face each day standing on the promises of God. Over the years I have learned that storms are necessary because they cause other things to happen that wouldn't normally happen. Rain falls, the wind blows and things are shifted out of place. What if the storms you are facing right now in your life have come to blow change into your life? Today, be strong and courageous as you face unknown storms and remember that in order to Stay On Course you have to trust the course that has been set.
