Net of Faith
In the book of Luke chapter five, there is a story that describes how life can change when we surrender and allow Christ to enter our lives. Simon was unaware of the miracle that was about to take place in his life, he just happens to be in the right place at the right time. How many times have you and I made plans for one thing and those plans get totally redirected?. Too often we plan our lives based on some grand scheme we have designed in our head not knowing that God guides our steps.
Simon, later to be called Peter is a bit disturbed when Jesus tells him to go out into the deep waters and cast down his net. Can you imagine being on the water all night till the next day tired, hungry, frustrated and not one single fish? Then here comes a strange man on your boat telling you to go out to the very place you were all night and cast your net. Isn't it funny how we attempt to live life on our own if we allow Christ full control of our lives things would be different? Jesus tells Simon to toss his net on the right side of the boat, and I love Simon's response "Master, we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down my net".(NIV) The catch was so grand that Simon had to get help to pull in all the fish that had been caught.
Where have you been casting your net and are you truly casting your net with faith? It doesn't make sense now eventually it will just keep going, it didn't make sense to Simon either when Jesus said cast your net on the right side after he had been out all night and came back with nothing, Sometimes we are tossing our net in the wrong direction, and wonder why we are worn out, let Jesus on the boat and toss your net again...Net of Faith!!!
