How long does each package take?

Timelines begin once your deposit is received and your final, edited manuscript is delivered.

  • Cover Only: 2 to 3 weeks
  • Launch Essentials: 4 to 6 weeks
  • Author Identity & Publishing: 6 to 8 weeks (add 1 to 2 weeks for audiobook preparation)
  • Signature Media Suite: 10 to 12 weeks, with priority scheduling

Your exact schedule is included in your project quote. Late feedback or manuscript changes may extend the timeline.

How many revisions are included?
  • Cover Only: 2 rounds
  • Launch Essentials: 2 rounds
  • Author Identity & Publishing: 3 rounds
  • Signature Media Suite: 4 rounds

A round is one combined list of changes sent together. Revisions apply to each deliverable, such as the cover and the interior layout. Additional rounds are available and quoted before any extra work begins.

What is a standard length book?

Pricing is based on a standard 6 x 9 inch trade paperback with mostly text and minimal images.

  • Cover Only: any length (the spine is sized to your final page count)
  • Launch Essentials: up to 250 pages, about 60,000 words
  • Author Identity & Publishing: up to 300 pages, about 75,000 words
  • Signature Media Suite: up to 400 pages, about 100,000 words

Pages beyond your package limit are $2 per additional page. Image heavy books, workbooks, cookbooks, and children's books are quoted individually.

Who owns the files and artwork?

Once your balance is paid in full, you receive the final print ready and digital files along with full rights to use them to publish, market, and sell your book. 1301 Productions retains the copyright to the original design and source files, such as layered Photoshop and InDesign files, which can be purchased for a separate fee. Licensed stock images and fonts remain subject to their original license terms, and we may feature your finished project in our portfolio.

How do deposits and payment plans work?

A 60% deposit reserves your spot on the calendar. The remaining balance is due before project completion, and final files are released once your balance is paid.

With a payment plan, the balance is split into equal payments spaced across your project timeline, with the last payment due before completion.
